Finance Committee
This committee prepares a draft budget for the succeeding year, and submits the budget to the Congregational Council and to the congregation for adoption. This committee exercises oversight over all financial affairs of the congregation to make sure that they are being conducted efficiently including the prompt payment of all obligations and the regular forwarding of benevolence funds to the synodical treasurer. It arranges for the appropriate insurance and, subject to the approval of the Congregational Council, is responsible for the congregation's investments. The Finance Committee:
- Coordinates the annual audits of the church financial records to ensure appropriate controls are in place and followed in a consistent manner.
- Approves all expenditures to ensure that they are within budget guidelines. Submits recommendation to the congregational council all expenditures beyond budget guidelines.
- Evaluates office machinery/equipment needs and submits recommendations for purchases or lease arrangements as needed. Secures maintenance agreements for equipment as needed.
The Finance Committee consists of individuals who enjoy working on financial and accounting activities and are interested in making conscientious "business" decisions regarding the church's financial affairs.
